About Charlton

Charlton Wilson is a U.S. and internationally trained transpersonal psychotherapist and hypnotherapist. His specialties are trauma relief and grief counseling, recovery from sexual abuse, behavior modification, and assistance with habituated and dependent behaviors such as alcoholism, drug addiction, sex addiction and codependency. Charlton has 19 years experience assisting others in changing patterned behavior to realize their life's aspirations.

Charlton holds professional memberships in the Association for Transpersonal Psychology & Hypnotherapy, the Committee of Advertising Practice, the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association, the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners, as well as the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.

Charlton has significant experience dealing with habituated and dependent behaviors such as alcoholism and addiction and codependency. Charlton has helped many alcoholics and addicts to recover from seemingly hopeless states of mind and body. These approaches can be used in concert with 12 -step meetings to help clients bolster their recovery. These meetings may be suggested, but are not a requirement of treatment.

While studying at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City, Charlton trained with Elma Kanefield, MCSW and Frank Roma, MCSW. In 1990 Charlton began training as a peer technician with Dr. Monica Weil and Dr. Michael Buffington.

Charlton began to focus on working with groups in recovery from sexual abuse and sexual addiction as well as all other forms of addiction and compulsivity. Charlton has worked with Dr. Daniel Socal who trained directly with Dr. Patrick Carnes, the world's pre-eminent expert and teacher on sex addiction recovery.

Between 2000 and 2003 Charlton worked closely with social workers, psychotherapists and counselors to teach them the nuances of working with sex addicts in recovery. In 2005 Charlton graduated from the Colorado School of Counseling Hypnotherapy.

Charlton Wilson is the sixth of seven children born in suburban Boston, Massachusetts.
